Mount Benacantil is undoubtedly one of the most important and emblematic green areas of the city of Alicante, a perfect space to enjoy nature in the middle of the city and one of the six areas included in the Metropolitan Forests for the 21st Century plan of the Generalitat Valenciana. At its top is the Castle of Santa Bárbara, which was built between the 8th and 9th centuries and has been modified throughout history. The area of the mountain chosen to develop the different itineraries is the north-northeast slope because it is the most accessible and most interesting area from an environmental point of view.
All the itineraries depart from the Environmental Education Center (CEA) of Mount Benacantil, and allow you to learn about the most important characteristics of the flora and fauna that you will find on Mount Benacantil. The most important and complete itinerary is the Red one.
CEAM Benacantil has a multi-use classroom for environmental education and has a permanent exhibition of flora and fauna of the environment. It focuses its activity as the basis of an environmental itinerary on Mount Benacantil, a priori aimed at Primary and Secondary students from schools in the Alicante Municipal District.
